Regular Season Round 17: Filipenses - Ardoi 60-65

There was no surprise in Palencia where 15th ranked Filipenses (2-14) was defeated by sixth ranked Ardoi (10-6) 65-60 on Saturday. Filipenses was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Pope Urtasun (187-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and center Andres Zabaleta (200-94) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. Kenyan Ronald Gombe (203-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Manuel Herrero (184-1) scored 11 points. Filipenses' coach Alberto Padilla tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ardoi. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A-A, which they share with Arha Hoteles and Nissan Burgos. Filipenses lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Ardoi will face Solares (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Filipenses will play against Valle de Egues (#12) in Olaz and hope to win that game.
