Regular Season Round 19: Temuco - AB Ancud 103-115

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Temuco (11-15) lost at home to sixth ranked AB Ancud (11-12) 115-103 on Saturday. AB Ancud made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Temuco was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international guard Sebastian Suarez (193-91, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists. American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: SSU) contributed with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Shuler attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. American swingman Alssene Saintilus (201-93, college: Bloomsburg) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Kenny Wormley (193-96, college: Hofstra) added 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Temuco. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for AB Ancud. They maintain sixth place with 11-12 record. Loser Temuco dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. AB Ancud will face higher ranked Deportivo Valdivia (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Temuco will play against Quilicura and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
