Regular Season Round 13: Villeneuve - Lyon 83-99

LFB top team - Lyon (11-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-7) 99-83. Lyon dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Villeneuve D'Ascq's 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Israeli-American forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: MTSU) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and international power forward Marieme Badiane (190-94, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Lyon's coach Valery Demory allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Lyon and four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-2 record. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Flammes and Roche. Lyon will play against Montpellier (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Tarbes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
