Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Valdivia: Las Animas (#1) and Deportivo Valdivia (#2). Las Animas (19-5) crushed visiting Deportivo Valdivia (13-12) by 22 points 94-72. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Deportivo Valdivia. Las Animas made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kristian Clarkson (202-84, college: Widener) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: UMass) accounted for 31 points for the winning side. American point guard Dion Dixon (191-89, college: Cincinnati, agency: Duran International) came up with 19 points and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively for Deportivo Valdivia in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Deportivo Valdivia's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Las Animas maintains first place with 19-5 record. Defending champion Deportivo Valdivia keeps the second position with 12 games lost. They share it with Puerto Montt. Las Animas will meet Los Leones (#4) in the next round. Deportivo Valdivia will play against AB Ancud and hope to secure a win.
