Very important is a road loss of third ranked Wizards (15-30) against fifth ranked Hawks (12-35) on Sunday night. Visiting Wizards were crushed by Hawks in Atlanta 152-133. They made 29-of-34 charity shots (85.3 percent) during the game. Hawks outrebounded Wizards 48-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Wizards helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for guard Trae Young (188-98, college: Oklahoma) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 14 assists. Guard DeAndre Hunter (201-97, college: Virginia) accounted for 25 points for the winning side. Bradley Beal (196-93, college: Florida) came up with 40 points (!!!) and 6 assists and swingman Troy Brown-Jr (201-99, college: Oregon, agency: Pensack Sports) added 19 points respectively for Wizards in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hawks maintains fifth place with 12-35 record. Wizards at the other side keep the third position with 30 games lost.
