Regular Season Round 19: Puerto Montt - CD Puerto Varas 94-75

Very important is a road loss of third ranked CD Puerto Varas (12-13) against fourth ranked Puerto Montt (13-12) on Sunday night. Visiting CD Puerto Varas were crushed by Puerto Montt in Puerto Montt 94-75. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Puerto Montt outrebounded CD Puerto Varas 38-24 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. It was a very good performance for American Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists. Italian-Argentinian point guard Diego Gerbaudo (178-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Deangelo Kirkland (203-89, college: Columbus St., agency: Interperformances) added 21 points in the effort for CD Puerto Varas. Five Puerto Montt and four CD Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Puerto Montt. They moved-up to second place, which they share with CD Valdivia. Loser CD Puerto Varas dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Puerto Montt will face Universidad Catolica (#3) in Santiago in the next round, which may be the game of the day. CD Puerto Varas will play at home against CD Castro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
