There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Chieti (10-8) edged at home 5th ranked Piacentina (12-6) 67-64 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (205-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Antonio Ruggiero (190-81, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Chieti players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Argentinian forward Duilio Birindelli (200-84) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Marco Perin (185-93) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Chieti maintains seventh position in B with 10-8 record. Loser Piacentina keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Chieti will face Faenza (#10) on the road in the next round. Piacentina will play against Sutor Montegranaro (#12) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
