Regular Season Round 17: Leon - Obradoiro S. 69-106

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Leon (3-11) was outplayed at home by fifth ranked Obradoiro S. (9-5) 106-69 on Sunday. Obradoiro S. outrebounded Leon 47-29 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Leon was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Gerard Jofresa (183-1) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and guard Rafael Garcia (185-0) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Swedish forward Musa Jeng (202-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and Jorge Rodriguez scored 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Obradoiro S. maintains fifth place in Group A-B with 9-5 record, which they share with Gijon Basket. Leon lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Obradoiro S. will face Xiria (#12) in Carballo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leon will play on the road against Culle in Culleredo and hope to win that game.
