Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Oulun NMKY (8-7) beat at home 9th ranked Kristika Turku (5-10) 93-87 on Sunday. Kristika Turku was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 29-17 charge of Oulun NMKY, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Oulun NMKY made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-94, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks. His fellow American import forward Anthony Townes (198-96, college: Pacific) helped adding 19 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Mikael Aalto (205-94) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and Joona Tuomala (197-97) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kristika Turku players scored in double figures. Oulun NMKY maintains sixth place in Division with 8-7 record. Loser Kristika Turku keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Oulun NMKY will face MuKi (#10) in Helsinki in the next round. Kristika Turku will play at home against the league's leader HBA-Marsky and hope to win that game.
