Regular Season Round 17: Baskonia - Goierri 95-80

Very expected game when 14th ranked Goierri (4-12) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Baskonia (9-7) 95-80 on Sunday. Baskonia outrebounded Goierri 51-32 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Czech guard Ondrej Hanzlik (193-2) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Inigo Royo (200-0) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Center Inigo de-la-Hera (-99) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and center Ander Arbulu (195-94) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Baskonia moved-up to seventh place in Group A-A, which they share with La Fecha. Goierri lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Baskonia will face league's leader Pas Pielagos in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Goierri will play at home against Zarautz (#9) and hope to win that game.
