Tenth-ranked Cecina (6-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked San Miniato (14-3). The visitors from San Miniato managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected much easier game. 26 personal fouls committed by Cecina helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Dominican point guard Alberto Benites (181-97) notched 25 points to lead the effort and forward Luca Tozzi (200-99) supported him with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Even 40 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by Lorenzo Turini (193-98, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Cecina. Guard Flavio Gay (184-98) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. San Miniato maintains second position in B with 14-3 record behind leader Benedetto CE. Cecina at the other side keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. San Miniato's next round opponent will be USE Basket (#6) in Empoli. Cecina will play on the road against Alba (#7) and hope to win that game.
