Regular Season Round 17: Almozara - Boet 68-74

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Boet and 14th ranked Almozara had identical 3-12 record. But Almozara was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Mataro 74-68 on Sunday night. Boet forced 22 Almozara turnovers. Strangely Almozara outrebounded Boet 48-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Marc Rubio (190-88) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and Cameroonian forward Japhet Kadji (201-95, college: NC A&T) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Hugo Cano (195-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Andres Solanas scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Almozara's coach Jose Carlos Herrero tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Boet maintains thirteenth place in Group C-A with 4-12 record. Almozara lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Boet will face higher ranked Maristes Ademar (#10) in Badalona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almozara will play on the road against the league's second-placed Igualada (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
