The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Flammes' (6-7) road victory over 10th ranked Tarbes (4-9) 74-45 on Sunday. Flammes forced 24 Tarbes turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tarbes' players. Quite impressive performance for Nigerian power forward Evelyn Akhator (190-95, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Belgian Kim Mestdagh (179-90, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Tima Pouye (174-99) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Ana Tadic (190-98, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tarbes. Flammes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Roche and Villeneuve. Tarbes lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Flammes will face bottom-ranked Nantes Reze (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tarbes will play against Villeneuve D'Ascq and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
