Regular Season Round 15: Canberra - Sydney Uni 82-66

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (6-13) were defeated on the road by third ranked Canberra Capitals (12-7) 82-66 on Sunday. Canberra Capitals forced 19 Sydney Uni Flames turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian guard Kia Nurse (183-96, college: UConn) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jessica Kuster (188-92, college: Rice) who recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and the other American import guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) added 21 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canberra Capitals have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 12-7 record having five points less than leader Southside. Sydney Uni Flames lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Canberra Capitals will meet at home Adelaide Lightning (#4) in the next round. Sydney Uni Flames will play against the league's leader Southside Flyers in Dandenong and hope to secure a win.
