An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Reykjavik. First ranked Valur faced 4th ranked Keflavik. Host Valur (16-2) defeated guests from Keflavik (10-6) 80-67. The game was mostly controlled by Valur. Keflavik was better in second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Keflavik's 28. Valur forced 19 Keflavik turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard Kiana Johnson (171-93, college: Virginia Union) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Oklahoma City) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and international guard Thoranna Hodge-Carr (166-99) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Keflavik. Valur have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-2 record. Keflavik at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Valur will play against Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round where they are favorite. Keflavik will play at home against Skallagrimur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
