Regular Season Round 37: Hiroshima D. - Ehime OV 85-89

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Dragonflies (30-7) in Hiroshima on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Orange Vikings (19-18) 89-85. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Dragonflies. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 53 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) contributed with 4 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) and guard Seiya Tanaka (186-91) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Dragonflies. Orange Vikings maintains third place with 19-18 record having eight points less than leader Shinshu BW, which they share with FE Nagoya. Dragonflies at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. Orange Vikings is looking forward to face Fukuoka R. (#6) at home in the next round. Dragonflies will play against Tokyo Z (#6) and are hoping to win this game.
