Regular Season Round 37: FE Nagoya - Nishinomiya S. 71-73

Third-ranked FE Nagoya (19-18) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Nishinomiya S. (25-12). The visitors from Hyogo managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of FE Nagoya. Nishinomiya S. players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: DePaul) stepped up and scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and his fellow American import center Brad Waldow (208-91, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Five Nishinomiya S. and four FE Nagoya players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nishinomiya S. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 25-12 record having just two points less than leader Shinshu BW. FE Nagoya at the other side keeps the third position with 18 games lost. They share it with Ehime OV. Nishinomiya S. will play against league's second-placed Kagawa FA in Takamatsu in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. FE Nagoya will play at home against the league's second-placed Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
