Regular Season Round 29: Kauhajoki - Seagulls 91-71

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Seagulls (23-5) on the court of third ranked Kauhajoki on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Kauhajoki 91-71. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Seagulls. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 20 points. Kauhajoki shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Seagulls' players. American forward Samuel Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU) chipped in 20 points and 10 assists. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Elijah Stewart (196-95, college: USC) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains third place with 20-9 record having just two points less than leader Seagulls. Seagulls at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Kauhajoki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Seagulls will play at home against BC Nokia and is hoping to win this game.
