There was no surprise when 15th ranked Montecatiniterme (3-15) was defeated at home by third ranked Firenze (15-4) 93-85 on Thursday. Firenze forced 22 Montecatiniterme turnovers and had a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Davide Poltroneri (195-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Lorenzo Passoni (197-97) helped adding 27 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Amedeo Tiberti (-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and center Andrea Iannilli (207-84) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Firenze and five Montecatiniterme players scored in double figures. Firenze maintains third place in B with 15-4 record behind leader Benedetto CE. Loser Montecatiniterme keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Firenze will face USE Basket (#7) in Empoli in the next round. Montecatiniterme will play on the road against Cecina (#9) and hope to win that game.
