No shocking result in a game when third ranked Naft Abadan (18-5) beat 9th ranked Zob Ahan (9-14) in Esfahan 65-59 on Thursday. They outrebounded Zob Ahan 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by the former international swingman Saeid Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 18 points and the former international center Mohammad Torabi (211-92) supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by the former international forward Sajjad Pazrofteh (188-96) did not help to save the game for Zob Ahan. French guard Jonathan Dogbo (193-91, college: Gannon, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Naft Abadan have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 18-5 record having just one point less than leader Gorgan. Zob Ahan at the other side keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Naft Abadan will meet at home league's second-placed Petrochimi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zob Ahan will play against Chemidor (#4) and hope to secure a win.
