Regular Season Round 19: Gernika - Valencia 91-89

The most exciting game of round 19 in the LFB took place in Gernika. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Valencia (12-7) to second ranked Gernika (15-4) 91-89 on Friday evening. Gernika made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Serbian center Nikolina Milic (191-94) fired 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Five Gernika players scored in double figures. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86) produced 25 points (made all of her seven free throws) and American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gernika have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Avenida, which they share with Girona. Valencia lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Gernika is looking forward to face Zamarat (#13) in Zamora in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Valencia will play at home against Al-Qazeres (#12) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
