Rather expected game when 10th ranked JA Vichy (8-9) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Nantes (10-7) 93-89 on Friday. They made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Nantes made 7 blocks. JA Vichy was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Gary Chathuant (195-83) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese-Spanish center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) chipped in 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Spanish guard Marcos Suka-Umu (193-85) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. JA Vichy's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Nantes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Saint-Chamond and Souffel. Loser JA Vichy dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Nantes will face Provence Basket (#15) in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round which should be an easy win for them. JA Vichy will play on the road against the league's leader ADA Blois (#1) and hope to win that game.
