Regular Season Round 19: Honka - Catz 79-71

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Catz Lappeenranta (12-7) against fifth ranked Tapiolan Honka (12-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Catz Lappeenranta was defeated by Tapiolan Honka in a tough game in Tapiolan 71-79. It looked good early as Catz Lappeenranta took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tapiolan Honka had a 22-11 second period charge getting the lead and Catz Lappeenranta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-79. Tapiolan Honka made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American swingman Chelsea Waters (186, college: Gonzaga) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Gaby Bronson (183-93, college: UW-Parkside, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American swingman Erica Covile (185-94, college: Temple) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Tuulia Timo (173-97) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Tapiolan Honka have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with FoA and Catz. Tapiolan Honka will play against Espoo Team (#6) on the road in the next round. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Helmi Basket and hopes to get back on the winning track.
