There was a small surprise in Santiago where third ranked Universidad Catolica (14-15) beat top-ranked Las Animas (21-6) 66-59 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of American Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard DJ Ursery (193, college: Alaska-Anch.) who added 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Cutley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Khapri Alston (198-94, college: Midwestern St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. Universidad Catolica maintains third position with 14-15 record having six points less than leader Las Animas. Loser Las Animas still keep top place with six games lost. Universidad Catolica will face CD Castro (#4) on the road in the next round. Las Animas will play against the league's leader Puente Alto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
