Regular Season Round 18: La Antigua - Estudiantes L. 96-75

There was no surprise in Salamanca where 11th ranked Estudiantes L. (4-11) was crushed by eighth ranked La Antigua (7-8) 96-75 on Saturday. La Antigua outrebounded Estudiantes L. 47-29 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Estudiantes L.'s players. The best player for the winners was American guard Abe Massaley (180, college: Shippensburg) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Bosnian Sandro Gacic (201-96) chipped in 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five La Antigua players scored in double figures. La Antigua's coach Avelino Garcia felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-1) who recorded 26 points and 6 rebounds and Mark Hetor (197-1) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively. La Antigua have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B, which they share with Culle. Estudiantes L. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. La Antigua will face higher ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (#3) in Avila in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Estudiantes L. will play at home against Univ.Valladolid (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
