Rather predictable result in Mito where third ranked Ibaraki R. (22-16) defeated 5th ranked Fukushima (10-26) 78-74 on Saturday. Ibaraki R. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 26. Fukushima was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) chipped in 13 points during the contest. American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) responded with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Dai Suzuki (183-90) scored 14 points. Fukushima's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ibaraki R. maintains third position with 22-16 record having six points less than leader Shinshu BW. Fukushima lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 26 games lost. Ibaraki R. will face again Fukushima (#5) at home in the next round.
