Regular Season Round 20: Zamorano - Ponferrada CDP 80-69

Date: February 1, 2020
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Zamorano (11-9) won against at home one of their biggest challengers Ponferrada CDP (11-9) 80-69 on Saturday. Zamorano made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Zamorano outrebounded Ponferrada CDP 42-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Bryce Canda (193-95, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds and American-Italian point guard Anthony Libroia (180-94, college: Adelphi) who added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Canda is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Zamorano's coach Saulo Hernandez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Andrew Ramirez (188-97, college: Hartford) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zamorano moved-up to fifth place in Silver. Zamorano will face Navarra (#7) in Pamplona in the next round. Ponferrada CDP will play at home against the league's second-placed Estela and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
