Regular Season Round 13: Maree - Marble CH 75-48

Bottom-ranked Marble CH (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-48 loss to third ranked Maree (10-3) in on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Marble CH's 24. Maree forced 19 Marble CH turnovers. The former international guard Claire Rockall (178-90, college: Iowa St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Alison Blaney (172-0) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Maree's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Aine Sheehy responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Katie Fox (165, college: St.Francis, NY) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Maree. They moved-up to second place. Marble CH lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. Maree will meet at home WIT Wildcats (#5) in the next round. Marble CH will play against Brunell (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
