Regular Season Round 18: Adepla - Dos Hermanas 70-72

A very interesting game took place in Plasencia. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Adepla (5-9) to sixth ranked Dos Hermanas (7-8) 72-70 in the fight for the sixth place. Strangely Adepla outrebounded Dos Hermanas 36-21 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Alvaro Lopez (-91) notched 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Fernando Cotan (197-91) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Dos Hermanas players scored in double figures. Dos Hermanas' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by American power forward Ernest Maize (203-94, college: Philander Smith) did not help to save the game for Adepla. Guard Pablo Bayle (188-87) added 14 points and 5 assists. Newly promoted Dos Hermanas maintains sixth position in Group D-B with 7-8 record. Adepla lost third consecutive game. Adepla at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Dos Hermanas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Utrera (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Adepla will play against Matenglish in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
