Regular Season Round 18: Igualada - Almozara 102-73

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Almozara (3-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Igualada (14-3) 102-73 on Saturday. Igualada dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Almozara's 32. They outrebounded Almozara 45-29 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Igualada looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Almozara's players. The best player for the winners was Pape Sall who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Center Eduard Tejero (196-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Four Igualada players scored in double figures. Igualada's coach Jordi Marti felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Jorge Bermudez (187-97) who recorded 18 points and Pablo Gracia (197-96) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Igualada have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group C-A with 14-3 record behind leader Alcobendas. Almozara lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
