Regular Season Round 18: Tobarra - Lanzarote 65-64

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Lanzarote (4-14) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Tobarra (8-10) 65-64 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was forward Miguel Raez (200-79) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Martin Smith (196-93, college: Lipscomb) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tobarra's coach Juan Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Richard Nguema (192-88) who recorded 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Javier Herreros (198-94) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Lanzarote players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Tobarra maintains ninth position in Group B with 8-10 record, which they share with Dist.Olimpico. Loser Lanzarote keeps the fifteenth place with 14 games lost. Tobarra will face Pozuelo (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Lanzarote will play against Real Madrid 2 and hope to win that game.
