Regular Season Round 12: Mgzavrebi - Cactus Tbilisi 84-86

A very interesting game took place in Tbilisi. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 10th ranked Mgzavrebi (3-8) to eighth ranked Cactus Tbilisi (5-6) 86-84 on Saturday evening. The guests were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 30-17 Mgzavrebi's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 86-84 at the end of the game. Strangely Mgzavrebi outrebounded Cactus Tbilisi 44-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. 31 personal fouls committed by Mgzavrebi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Brian Williams (187-92, college: Jacksonville St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The other American import guard Mike Davis (193-96, college: Queens, NC) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Taj Spencer (201-93, college: CBU) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and Canadian guard Joe Rocca (193-92, college: Carleton) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mgzavrebi. Four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Cactus Tbilisi moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kutaisi and BC Titebi. Mgzavrebi at the other side keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Cactus Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Tskhum-Abkhazeti.
