Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#2) and Corinthians (#8). Vivo/Franca (15-5) won against visiting Corinthians (10-10) 94-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Corinthians. Vivo/Franca made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Vivo/Franca especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who scored 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Argentinian Leonel Schattmann (193-87) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) produced 21 points and 7 assists and American-Peruvian guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vivo/Franca have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record behind leader Flamengo. Corinthians at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Vivo/Franca will meet SKY/Basquete (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Corinthians will have a break next round.
