No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Anatolia (7-10) beat 14th ranked Pagrati (4-11) in Thessaloniki 108-99 on Saturday. Anatolia made 36-of-46 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game, while Pagrati only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Anatolia forced 23 Pagrati turnovers. Strangely Pagrati outrebounded Anatolia 52-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. Pagrati was plagued by 36 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Dimitris Geromichalos (185-94, agency: Mansfield and Associates) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Sotiris Karapostolou (195-78, college: S.New Hampshire) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Montenegrin center Milovan Draskovic (211-95, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Theodoros Hnaris added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Pagrati. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Anatolia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Agriniou and Napfliou. Pagrati at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Anatolia will face higher ranked Psychiko (#5) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pagrati will play at home against Koroivos (#12) and hope to win that game.
