Regular Season Round 19: Gipuzkoa UPV - Clarinos 71-72

A very close game took place in San Sebastian between Clarinos and Gipuzkoa UPV. Ninth ranked Clarinos (9-10) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (6-13). Clarinos managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for American center Vionise Pierre-Louis (193-95, college: Oklahoma) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-96, college: Temple) helped adding 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Clarinos' coach Claudo Garcia used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Brazilian center Erika De-Souza (197-82) responded with 7 points and 13 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. Clarinos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Cadi La Seu and Mann Filter. Gipuzkoa UPV lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres. Clarinos will meet bottom-ranked Socinsa Bembibre (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against Araski in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to secure a win.
