Regular Season Round 15: Chania - Olympiacos 65-91

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Chania. Leader Olympiacos faced 4th placed Chania. Guests from Pireus (15-0) smashed host Chania (10-5) 91-65. They outrebounded Chania 43-25 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Angeliki Nikolopoulou (177-91) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Slovakian center Anna Jurcenkova (195-85) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Eutuhia Dermitzaki (-2) who recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Miranda Drummond (185, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chania's coach Stavros Nanakos gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Olympiacos have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-0 record. Newly promoted Chania keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Olympiacos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Melissia (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Chania will play against Sporting (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
