Regular Season Round 19: Al Ahli - Qatar Club 83-86

Important game to mention about took place in Doha. Seventh ranked Qatar Sports Club (5-11) saved a 3-point derby victory on the road edging 6th ranked Al Ahli (6-9) 86-83 on Sunday evening. Qatar Sports Club made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game, while Al Ahli only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Al Ahli 47-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. Qatar Sports Club brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). Guard Kevin Bracy-Davis (201-95, college: Davis & Elkins) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Jeff Newberry (188-92, college: Oklahoma St.) answered with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Aaron Rountree-III (203-93, college: Iona) added 15 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Al Ahli. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Qatar Sports Club maintains seventh place with 5-11 record. Al Ahli lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Qatar Sports Club will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
