Regular Season Round 18: Obradoiro S. - Xiria 54-92

There was an upset in Santiago de Comp where higher ranked Obradoiro S. (9-6) was outplayed by twelfth ranked Xiria (5-10) 92-54 on Sunday. Xiria dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Obradoiro S.'s 16. The best player for the winners was forward Ruben Rey (198-93) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Senegalese center Alioune Senghor (200-96) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Rafael Garcia (185-0) who recorded 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Gerard Jofresa (183-1) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Xiria moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with Univ.Valladolid and Betanzos. Obradoiro S. lost fourth consecutive game. Obradoiro S. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Xiria will face higher ranked Culle (#7) in Culleredo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Obradoiro S. will play on the road against the league's leader Carbajosa where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
