Regular Season Round 20: CD Puerto Varas - CD Castro 80-89
Date: February 2, 2020
Very significant was CD Castro's (#5) 89-80 road victory against one of their biggest challengers CD Puerto Varas. It was a great shooting night for CD Castro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. The winners were led by Argentinian guard Esteban Cantarutti (185-88) who scored that evening 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Wesley Person (190-95, college: Troy) supported him with 28 points. Four CD Castro players scored in double figures. Even 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by Nigerian-American George Williams (198-90, college: Wayland Baptist) did not help to save the game for CD Puerto Varas. American forward Deangelo Kirkland (203-89, college: Columbus St., agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. CD Castro have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. CD Puerto Varas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 15 games lost. CD Castro will play against higher ranked Universidad Catolica (#3) in Santiago in the next round and it may be the game of the week. CD Puerto Varas will play on the road against Temuco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
