Regular Season Round 19: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 72-75

The most exciting game of round 19 in the D1 took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Al Shamal (12-5) to first ranked Al Arabi (13-2) 75-72 in the game for the first place. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Algerian forward Mohamed Harath (198-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CSUN) produced 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Arabi have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Defending champion Al Shamal keeps the second position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
