Regular Season Round 16: UCAM Jairis - Lima-Horta 76-60

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked UCAM Jairis (8-8) beat higher ranked Lima-Horta (10-6) in Alcantarilla 76-60 on Sunday. UCAM Jairis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Victoria Robles (179-91) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four UCAM Jairis players scored in double figures. Center Paula Tutusaus (186-90) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Maria Martianez (189-97, college: ORU) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lima-Horta. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. UCAM Jairis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Girona. Loser Lima-Horta keeps the fourth position with six games lost. UCAM Jairis will face league's leader Sant Adria on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lima-Horta will play against Girona and hope to win that game.
