Important game to mention about took place in Trieste. Sixteenth ranked Trieste (6-14) saved a 1-point victory at home edging second-best Sassari (15-5) 83-82 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Trieste forced 20 Sassari turnovers. Strangely Sassari outrebounded Trieste 43-28 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for naturalized Argentinian guard Juan Fernandez (193-90, college: Temple) who saved his team from a defeat with 23 points. American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Trieste's coach Eugenio Dalmasson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sassari. Five Sassari players scored in double figures. Trieste moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Pistoia. Sassari at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Trieste will play against higher ranked Brescia (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sassari will have a break next round.
