Regular Season Round 39: Ehime OV - Fukuoka R. 90-87

Sixth-ranked Fukuoka R. (11-28) made lots of trouble for third ranked Orange Vikings (20-19) in Matsuyama on Sunday. Orange Vikings managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. Orange Vikings made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Orange Vikings had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Yoshihiko Toshino (186-92) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds. Orange Vikings' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Spanish center David Doblas (209-81) with 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Masashi Joho (183-82) scored 17 points. Four Orange Vikings and five Fukuoka R. players scored in double figures. Orange Vikings maintains third place with 20-19 record having nine points less than leader Shinshu BW, which they share with FE Nagoya. Loser Fukuoka R. keeps the sixth position with 28 games lost. Orange Vikings will meet FE Nagoya (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukuoka R. will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
