Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Tartu Ulikool (6-12) was outscored at home by fourth ranked Ventspils (16-5) 99-70 on Sunday. Ventspils shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for Janis Berzins (201-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Wes Washpun (185-93, college: N.Iowa, agency: Two Points) contributed with 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Ventspils players scored in double figures. The former international Kregor Hermet (205-97) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Robert Valge (194-97) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tartu Ulikool. Tartu Ulikool's coach Priit Vene gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ventspils. They maintain fourth place with 16-5 record. Tartu Ulikool lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Ventspils will face Jurmala (#6) on the road in the next round. Tartu Ulikool will play against TLU/Kalev and hope to win that game.
