Regular Season Round 21: Cantu - Venezia 81-77

There was an upset when higher ranked Umana Venezia (10-10) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Cantu (9-10) 81-77 on Sunday. Cantu outrebounded Umana Venezia 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Kevarrius Hayes (206-97, college: Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. American-Portuguese Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Dominican forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Andrea De-Nicolao (185-91) added 6 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists respectively. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cantu moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Varese. Defending champion Umana Venezia keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Cantu will face higher ranked Trento (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
