Regular Season Round 19: Snaefell - Vestri 87-97

There was no surprise in Stykkisholmur where 9th ranked Snaefell (2-14) was defeated by fifth ranked Vestri (8-7) 97-87 on Monday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-87. It was a great evening for Croatian point guard Toni Jelenkovic (180-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) helped adding 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Vestri's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side Swedish Gabriel Adersteg (201-95, college: Bethesda) responded with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Italian center Brandon Cataldo (213-91, college: Portland St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vestri maintains fifth place with 8-7 record. Snaefell lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Vestri will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Snaefell will play against FSU (#6) in Selfoss and hope to secure a win.
