Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Penarol (13-5) outplayed 13th ranked San Martin (7-10) in Mar del Plata 84-56 on Tuesday. Penarol outrebounded San Martin 41-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Penarol looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for guard Thiago Dasso (185-0) who led his team to a victory with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Juan Fernandez (198-99) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Franco Mendez (188-2) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Dylan Bordon added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for San Martin. Penarol moved-up to fourth place. San Martin lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Penarol will have a break next round. San Martin will play at home against Atenas (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
