Regular Season Round 31: Lahti - Kouvot 73-100

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Kouvot's (13-16) road victory over 9th ranked Lahti (11-19) 100-73. The game was mostly controlled by Kouvot. Lahti was better in fourth quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lahti 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Kouvot shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. American players dominated also this game. It was a great evening for power forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) helped adding 24 points. Five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Tuomas Oja felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Courtney Stockard (196-95, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Devante Wallace (196-92, college: High Point) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Kouvot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Lahti keeps the ninth position with 19 games lost. Kouvot will play against higher ranked KTP Basket (#4) in Kotka in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lahti will play on the road against Kataja (#6) in Joensuu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
