Regular Season Round 19: Breidablik - Valur 76-87

Dominos League top team - Valur (17-2) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat seventh ranked Breidablik (2-17) in Kopavogur 87-76. Breidablik was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Valur, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kiana Johnson (171-93, college: Virginia Union) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Dutch-American forward Micheline Mercelita (180-95, college: Midwestern St., agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners. Four Valur players scored in double figures. American guard Danni Williams (178, college: Texas) answered with 40 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Telma Asgeirsdottir (169-93) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Breidablik. Valur have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Breidablik lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Valur are looking forward to face Haukar (#3) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Breidablik will play on the road against Skallagrimur (#4) in Borganes and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
