Regular Season Round 18: Haukar - Tindastoll 76-79

Another exciting game took place in Hafnarfjordur where third ranked Tindastoll (12-6) edged by three points one of their biggest challengers Haukar (11-7) 79-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Haukar. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Haukar won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for Croatian forward Jasmin Perkovic (206-80) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. American point guard Deremy Geiger (181-90, college: Idaho, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Tindastoll players scored in double figures. Tindastoll's coach Baldur Ragnarsson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) replied with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Flenard Whitfield (201-90, college: W.Michigan) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Haukar. Tindastoll have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-6 record having just three points less than leader Stjarnan. Haukar at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Njardvik and KR. Tindastoll will play against bottom-ranked Fjolnir (#12) in Reykjavik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Haukar will play on the road against the league's second-placed Keflavik (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
